(National Post 记者Jan Cienski ) Defying the trend that the president’s party loses congressional seats in mid-term elections, Republicans hung on to their majority in the House of Representatives yesterday thanks in large part to the coattails supplied by George W. Bush.
Republicans went into the election with a six-seat majority and early returns suggested they would actually add to that total, taking almost every race that had been rated a toss-up. Mr. Bush put his prestige and his still-high popularity on the line, entering the fray with abandon
